Please note that there will NOT be a TulsaSQL meeting on July 20th due to a last minute speaker cancellation. There was no time for a backup plan and the meeting room has been booked by another event...
We do have great presenations lined up for August and September by Michael Chen and Kristen Ferrier over Business Intelligence in SQL and Analyst Services in SQL 2008. We also have new prize and a demo from RedGate Software.

SQL Server frequently does a good job deciding the best query plan, but sometimes it doesn't. When the performance of a query suddenly becomes erratic for no apparently reason, this may be a result of SQL Server choosing a suboptimal execution plan. In those cases, your best alternative is to use a hint. In this session, we will discuss how and when to use hints and what to avoid when using them.
